Renewing Hope Teaser # 2

Good evening my friends!

Instead of wordy excerpts tonight, I thought I would tease you with visual ideas of some of the characters of the series. I will share more on release day on my Facebook page ( I can’t wait for you to see who I see as Nathan, Kate, and Benjamin) but tonight, let me share a couple of other characters:

John Wittmer- Quiet and reserved in many ways, he is the the foundation of security in Emma’s life.

Fannie Berger- warm and loving , she is the mother every child wishes for. She is willing to see the best in everyone. She is sweeter than the sweetest pie.

Abigail Berger- young, exuberant, and wise beyond her ten years. She is sunshine in a dress.

Elder Ezekiel- kind hearted, dedicated to the Way, and someone to be listened to. A man with a heart of gold.

(I can’t think not think of this man and not remember the church scene in Home Alone- tears every time)

So who do you see when you see characters? Discussions on Sunday, release day!

Two days my friends!

I can’t wait!

Renewing Hope Teaser # 3

Good Evening my friends! Three days before the launch, and I am excited to say that every last little edit is COMPLETE! Formatting DONE! Cover FINISHED! And my proof arrived in the mail today with minimal changes to be made! YES!

This is happening!

So with all the fabulous news, I think we all deserve a little tease that perhaps offers a little heat — a little zest. That twist of tart that makes the pulse quicken.

“Do enjoy what you see, Kate?” he asked, the mischief clear in his voice when he sat up straight to wrap his arms around me quicker than I could pull away.

Fireside tub“Nathan! You’ll slosh water out!” I exclaimed when he shifted to cause waves in the bath.

“Only if I do this,” he said and pulled me in with him, fully clothed. I cried out and laughed in surprise at feeling the water soak into my clothes. Only my feet remained out of the tub, as well as my head that reached up to his in a heated kiss.

“We will need to clean this up,” I breathed around his lips.

“Later,” he whispered, his mouth moving once more to my neck. “How is it that you taste better every time I kiss you?”

I giggled at the stubble on his chin as he moved along my neck, trying hard not to move so as to keep from splashing more water out of the tub. I didn’t want to spend precious time after his bath cleaning up. I wanted a repeat of our time last night in bed. Nathan groaned against my collarbone and tipped his head up to look up into my eyes, the tender expression in them making my heart pound.kiss-couple-romance-touch-feeling-happy-hug-embrace-love-beautiful-camila-lima-anas-ahmed22

“I cannot get enough of you,” he whispered. “I want to take you to our bed and stay there all night worshipping you.”

I’ll keep it short tonight. Just let this one sit here, at least until tomorrow.

Three more days my friends!

Renewing Hope Tease # 4

Good evening friends!

What could I possibly tease you with tonight? How about the many tasty delights of Renewing Hope?

StrawberryI plucked one of the bigger berries out of the basket and held it up for him to bite. He looked from me to the fruit, his mouth hesitant for a moment before he leaned in slightly to take a bite. Juice dribbled down his chin as he bit down, forcing him to pull away to wipe his chin with his bicep.

He was a mess.

He was beautiful and smiling down at me.

Strawberries are nice- but then so is pie….

“I have heard of your pies, young Katherine,” the old woman said, squinting to investigate one of my apple pies. When she looked up again, I noticed one of her eyes was blind, clouded with age and cataracts.

“Ethel, she puts my pies to shame,” Fannie replied, holding me close.

The old woman laid the pie back down on the table and patted me lightly on the arm.

“Well, that should make the young Fisher boy happy. Fatten him up. He is far too thin,” she said, nodding seriously.

“I will do my best,” I murmured, smiling at the idea that perhaps I could make him happy with more than simply my pies. And even more so, that Ethel already approved of me to do so.

Perhaps pie was the way to the Amish heart.

But the food item that I crave most, and often can only find in the fall-

“Did you make this pumpkin butter?” she mumbled and spread more of it on the tiny remains of the biscuit in her hand.

“Sarah Jensen gave me the recipe last week. Fannie and I salvaged some of the pumpkins in the fields,” I said, chuckling at Hannah’s newly voracious appetite.

Apparently she wasn’t suffering from morning sickness anymore.Pumpkin Butter_Spreader

“It is good,” she replied and popped the last of the biscuit in her mouth, peeking under the cloth to see if there were any more biscuits. Her frown told me she had eaten them all.

“We can make more biscuits if you want,” I said, laughing when she pursed her lips at me.

“Just you wait, Katherine,” she growled. “I finally find something I can eat and I want nothing more than to devour them. You will see.”

Four more days, my friends! I’ll be over here, having some pie to tide me over….

Renewing Hope tease #5

Five days, my friends!

And another tease:

One of my favorite characters:

tumblr_mk0y3yX1xh1s70v29o1_500As I stepped into the barn, the big black poked his massive head from his stall and shook his mane fancifully at me as I neared. I hoped that was his way of saying hello and not a warning for me to back off. I whispered to him, his eyes regarding me with a depth I found intimidating for an animal.

Magnus was very aware of the world around him.

I stroked his muzzle with a tentative hand, his lips chewing on my fingers for a second before he nickered and nodded his head, as if telling me to stop teasing him. I chuckled and pulled out one apple, laying it in my open hand for him to take. He took it eagerly and munched on it as I stroked along his neck, looking into his stall to see if it needed cleaning.

Perhaps it is from my days of reading Black Beauty and The Black Stallionhorse-face-desktop-background-176But Magnus, while a secondary character, and an animal at that, touches my heart and his loyalty to his master (and his master’s love) will always make me smile and even cry a little (I’m such a sap when it comes to animals!).

Perhaps he does fancy himself a prancing stallion that owns the farm:

As if to thank me, he left me a pile to clean up as he sauntered away toward the pasture.

But how can you not love such a big sweetheart?  He really is just an oversized cuddle bug…

He’ll be the first to insist that he’s really the hero.

“Come, Magnus,” I whispered and held my hand out to him.Jen-Profile-Horse-4x6-302x302

He stepped up to me, his head nuzzled into my stomach as I stroked his neck carefully.

“You have earned yourself all the oats I can sneak you, sweet boy,” I whispered and stroked him a little harder, my tears falling over his forelock as he nickered against me.

Magnus and more- coming in five days!

Happy Tuesday!

Renewing Hope Tease

Hello friends!

We have six days before Renewing Hope releases! This week I will offer picture teases with just a hint of what is to come.

Here we are on # Six of the countdown:

amish clearing the field2

source Amish America

Nathan was already in the field closest to the barn, his horses rigged up to one of Jonah’s larger machines, and already the first row of corn by the barn had been cleared from the earth. Behind him in the large wagon stood a man I recognized and was surprised to see working amongst the Amish.

Benjamin Yoder. I remembered him from the Gathering, seemingly months ago. Benjamin was the old friend of Nathan’s who had helped find me.

The Bishop’s son.

He was still dressed in English clothes, his dark hair grown out since the last time I had seen him and a wavy mess from the work. It was obvious he knew how to work the machinery.

We’ll see you tomorrow with another picture tease of one of my favorite characters! Can you guess who it is?

Until tomorrow!

Now, as part of the 7 day countdown, how about a little tease?

hayloft       I was panting as I pushed and shoved another bale up onto the second level of another base row. The hay made the ground a little slippery,   and as I had grown tired, my hard shove catapulted me to fall onto the long row of hay in front of me. The last troublesome bale tipped over and landed back on its side.

I let out a tired huff and flopped onto the hay, not caring if I got it in my hair.

I just wanted to be horizontal for a minute.

When Nathan’s warm body covered mine there in the hay, I wasn’t worried about how straight my rows were or whether I was just a little too weak to make a third row.

His lips covered mine, searching slowly while his hands travelled down my side past my hips, tugging at my skirt to free up my legs. I could feel his grin against my lips before he drew away to look down at me.

“Benjamin is at the mill until late,” he whispered, his eyes gleaming.

I raised my eyebrow at him.

“And?” I said, playing ignorant.

My skirt moved up a little higher, his smile wicked.

“And you have made such a nice place to rest,” he whispered, his lips moving down my throat until his nose edged across the top of my dress.

“It is quite comfortable up here,” I replied, slipping my fingers through his suspenders to slide them down over his shoulders.

“It is better than the old loft,” he mumbled, his nose drifting further down until his face lay nestled in between my breasts. “No one will find us up here.”

His overheated body felt good against me in the cold air, and I moaned when he adjusted against me.

Kissing couple in hay.

“Is this all right?” he murmured into my skin. “I must confess I have thought of you in the hayloft with me since before the last time we ventured up.”

“What did you think we might do up in the hayloft?” I asked, breathless and eager to see a more adventurous side of him.

He chuckled and looked down at me with mischievous eyes.

“I think my ideas have grown.”

More teasers this week as we countdown to December 15th! And more chances for free copies of Renewing Hope!

Pleasant Sunday, friends!

Cover Reveal for Renewing Hope

The eagerly anticipated second book of the In Your World Series is DAYS away! Renewing Hope is due to be released on December 15th.

So what are we hoping to see as Kate Hill and Nathan Fisher continue on their journey? Let’s see by first taking a look at the cover-

RH cropped ebookversion

Kate Hill hopes to leave her English past behind her in order to be accepted by the Amish of West Grove, and marry her love, Nathan Fisher. But as she struggles to win over her Amish neighbors, she discovers that the sordid past of the Bishop’s son has caused a rift in the small community. Shunned for living the English lifestyle, Benjamin Yoder finds a friend in Kate, and wonders if there is hope in returning to the Amish life he misses.

Nathan Fisher wants his old friend, Benjamin, back with the Amish for many reasons- by forgiving Benjamin his English transgressions; surely the community will accept his Kate. With the Bishop’s steadfast obstinacy towards the English blight on his flock, it will be up to Kate and Nathan to heal their community by bringing home the son of the Bishop and renewing hope in the Amish through forgiveness.

“Bishop Yoder, pleasant day.”

I froze with a pie in my hand at the name on Ethel’s lips. Turning, I found the Bishop standing in front of the booth, eyeing the baked goods and jams. When he looked up to find me standing there his friendly face faltered and a slight sneer appeared. It only lasted an instant before the man standing beside him spoke. I hadn’t even noticed the young Bishop, Zachariah Ropp, standing there.

“It is good to see you again, Katherine Hill,” he said with a courteous nod of his head. “I have heard many say your baked goods would make a fine addition to this market.”

The Bishop’s eyes narrowed at the young man’s compliment.

“I am happy to offer whatever I may, Bishop Ropp,” I replied, my voice soft.

Fannie came up beside me and transferred the pie in my tightening grasp to the table.

“She is blessed in her baking,” she replied simply.

“You have taught her much, then,” Bishop Yoder stated, never taking his judging eye from mine.

“No, she was blessed before she arrived with us, Bishop Yoder,” Fannie replied. “I dare say she outshines my own skills.”

“Really?” Bishop Ropp asked, his eyebrows rising slightly. “Naomi Yoder has said that no one can cook like you. Your cakes and dishes are always the first to go at your Sermons, I hear.”

Fannie wrapped her arm around my waist and smiled.

“Not any longer, I think,” she said. “I do believe Katherine’s pies disappeared while the main dishes were still hot on last Sermon.”

“You will make an Amish man very happy one day,” Bishop Ropp said before jerking his head toward his elder Bishop, who made a strangled noise in his throat.

Clearly Bishop Yoder didn’t think so.

“An Amish wife must know more than how to fill her husband’s belly,” he muttered and nodded his goodbye before stalking off toward the horse auction.

Bishop Ropp looked after him for a moment before offering his clipped farewell and following after. Ethel patted my hand and gestured toward the retreating Bishops.

“Do not worry over Bishop Yoder. He has just forgotten what a meal made with love tastes like.”

“I do not think Nathan Fisher starves so,” one of the other women teased.

“Leave her be, Mary,” Sarah said, winking at me as my blush deepened.
