He let his lips move against mine with such ease; it was as if he had always known how to kiss me, that there had never been reservations.

couple-silhouette1Every kiss reaffirmed that we were made for one another. I felt his hands move along my back, drawing me closer as his kiss deepened. Having him pressed against me was the most amazing feeling ever, warm and safe. He sighed and broke off the kiss, burying his head into my shoulder as he held me tight. My fingers found their way to the nape of his neck, playing with his hair there. Nathan groaned and nuzzled a little deeper into my neck, the heat of his breath causing me to shiver.

“I cannot bear to let you go just yet,” he whispered. “I continue to count down the days until you will be mine wholly.”

Don’t forget to leave a comment for your chance to win a copy of Renewing Hope. Thank you for all your love and support!

Happy Release Day, friends!

Renewing Hope Teaser # 2

Good evening my friends!

Instead of wordy excerpts tonight, I thought I would tease you with visual ideas of some of the characters of the series. I will share more on release day on my Facebook page ( I can’t wait for you to see who I see as Nathan, Kate, and Benjamin) but tonight, let me share a couple of other characters:

John Wittmer- Quiet and reserved in many ways, he is the the foundation of security in Emma’s life.

Fannie Berger- warm and loving , she is the mother every child wishes for. She is willing to see the best in everyone. She is sweeter than the sweetest pie.

Abigail Berger- young, exuberant, and wise beyond her ten years. She is sunshine in a dress.

Elder Ezekiel- kind hearted, dedicated to the Way, and someone to be listened to. A man with a heart of gold.

(I can’t think not think of this man and not remember the church scene in Home Alone- tears every time)

So who do you see when you see characters? Discussions on Sunday, release day!

Two days my friends!

I can’t wait!

Renewing Hope Teaser # 3

Good Evening my friends! Three days before the launch, and I am excited to say that every last little edit is COMPLETE! Formatting DONE! Cover FINISHED! And my proof arrived in the mail today with minimal changes to be made! YES!

This is happening!

So with all the fabulous news, I think we all deserve a little tease that perhaps offers a little heat — a little zest. That twist of tart that makes the pulse quicken.

“Do enjoy what you see, Kate?” he asked, the mischief clear in his voice when he sat up straight to wrap his arms around me quicker than I could pull away.

Fireside tub“Nathan! You’ll slosh water out!” I exclaimed when he shifted to cause waves in the bath.

“Only if I do this,” he said and pulled me in with him, fully clothed. I cried out and laughed in surprise at feeling the water soak into my clothes. Only my feet remained out of the tub, as well as my head that reached up to his in a heated kiss.

“We will need to clean this up,” I breathed around his lips.

“Later,” he whispered, his mouth moving once more to my neck. “How is it that you taste better every time I kiss you?”

I giggled at the stubble on his chin as he moved along my neck, trying hard not to move so as to keep from splashing more water out of the tub. I didn’t want to spend precious time after his bath cleaning up. I wanted a repeat of our time last night in bed. Nathan groaned against my collarbone and tipped his head up to look up into my eyes, the tender expression in them making my heart pound.kiss-couple-romance-touch-feeling-happy-hug-embrace-love-beautiful-camila-lima-anas-ahmed22

“I cannot get enough of you,” he whispered. “I want to take you to our bed and stay there all night worshipping you.”

I’ll keep it short tonight. Just let this one sit here, at least until tomorrow.

Three more days my friends!

Renewing Hope Tease # 4

Good evening friends!

What could I possibly tease you with tonight? How about the many tasty delights of Renewing Hope?

StrawberryI plucked one of the bigger berries out of the basket and held it up for him to bite. He looked from me to the fruit, his mouth hesitant for a moment before he leaned in slightly to take a bite. Juice dribbled down his chin as he bit down, forcing him to pull away to wipe his chin with his bicep.

He was a mess.

He was beautiful and smiling down at me.

Strawberries are nice- but then so is pie….

“I have heard of your pies, young Katherine,” the old woman said, squinting to investigate one of my apple pies. When she looked up again, I noticed one of her eyes was blind, clouded with age and cataracts.

“Ethel, she puts my pies to shame,” Fannie replied, holding me close.

The old woman laid the pie back down on the table and patted me lightly on the arm.

“Well, that should make the young Fisher boy happy. Fatten him up. He is far too thin,” she said, nodding seriously.

“I will do my best,” I murmured, smiling at the idea that perhaps I could make him happy with more than simply my pies. And even more so, that Ethel already approved of me to do so.

Perhaps pie was the way to the Amish heart.

But the food item that I crave most, and often can only find in the fall-

“Did you make this pumpkin butter?” she mumbled and spread more of it on the tiny remains of the biscuit in her hand.

“Sarah Jensen gave me the recipe last week. Fannie and I salvaged some of the pumpkins in the fields,” I said, chuckling at Hannah’s newly voracious appetite.

Apparently she wasn’t suffering from morning sickness anymore.Pumpkin Butter_Spreader

“It is good,” she replied and popped the last of the biscuit in her mouth, peeking under the cloth to see if there were any more biscuits. Her frown told me she had eaten them all.

“We can make more biscuits if you want,” I said, laughing when she pursed her lips at me.

“Just you wait, Katherine,” she growled. “I finally find something I can eat and I want nothing more than to devour them. You will see.”

Four more days, my friends! I’ll be over here, having some pie to tide me over….

Renewing Hope tease #5

Five days, my friends!

And another tease:

One of my favorite characters:

tumblr_mk0y3yX1xh1s70v29o1_500As I stepped into the barn, the big black poked his massive head from his stall and shook his mane fancifully at me as I neared. I hoped that was his way of saying hello and not a warning for me to back off. I whispered to him, his eyes regarding me with a depth I found intimidating for an animal.

Magnus was very aware of the world around him.

I stroked his muzzle with a tentative hand, his lips chewing on my fingers for a second before he nickered and nodded his head, as if telling me to stop teasing him. I chuckled and pulled out one apple, laying it in my open hand for him to take. He took it eagerly and munched on it as I stroked along his neck, looking into his stall to see if it needed cleaning.

Perhaps it is from my days of reading Black Beauty and The Black Stallionhorse-face-desktop-background-176But Magnus, while a secondary character, and an animal at that, touches my heart and his loyalty to his master (and his master’s love) will always make me smile and even cry a little (I’m such a sap when it comes to animals!).

Perhaps he does fancy himself a prancing stallion that owns the farm:

As if to thank me, he left me a pile to clean up as he sauntered away toward the pasture.

But how can you not love such a big sweetheart?  He really is just an oversized cuddle bug…

He’ll be the first to insist that he’s really the hero.

“Come, Magnus,” I whispered and held my hand out to him.Jen-Profile-Horse-4x6-302x302

He stepped up to me, his head nuzzled into my stomach as I stroked his neck carefully.

“You have earned yourself all the oats I can sneak you, sweet boy,” I whispered and stroked him a little harder, my tears falling over his forelock as he nickered against me.

Magnus and more- coming in five days!

Happy Tuesday!

Renewing Hope Tease

Hello friends!

We have six days before Renewing Hope releases! This week I will offer picture teases with just a hint of what is to come.

Here we are on # Six of the countdown:

amish clearing the field2

source Amish America

Nathan was already in the field closest to the barn, his horses rigged up to one of Jonah’s larger machines, and already the first row of corn by the barn had been cleared from the earth. Behind him in the large wagon stood a man I recognized and was surprised to see working amongst the Amish.

Benjamin Yoder. I remembered him from the Gathering, seemingly months ago. Benjamin was the old friend of Nathan’s who had helped find me.

The Bishop’s son.

He was still dressed in English clothes, his dark hair grown out since the last time I had seen him and a wavy mess from the work. It was obvious he knew how to work the machinery.

We’ll see you tomorrow with another picture tease of one of my favorite characters! Can you guess who it is?

Until tomorrow!

An Author Thanks Her Readers

Thank you!

June 1st feels like a long ago memory, and yet it was just one lunar cycle ago. Twenty eight days ago and I was hitting the publish button for this little story I wrote about a girl who meets a boy and they fall in love. And I was scared because it wasn’t just any girl or some simple guy. I was writing about two cultures coming together, and two lost souls finding faith in life through one another.

Once you submit, you are handing your child to the masses, like first day of school- and fret about the bullies that might say your child doesn’t belong. That they’re weird- they stink and shouldn’t sit at the cool kids table. Your little one has to fend for himself and you pray that you prepared him to stand up to those bullies, to find kids that share the same likes and interests, and that he goes far beyond your hopes and dreams.

This little story has moved through the ranks far further than I ever thought possible, in a place I didn’t think it would go. And you my wonderful readers helped to get it there.

I’m not talking NYT bestseller- or even top 100 on Amazon. Every writer hopes for that one day. But this little story was special to me and I knew it would do what it would in its own right. Healing Faith is a sweet romance- there aren’t whips and red rooms- there isn’t a misogynistic hero who seduces his beautiful subordinate. It’s not about lust or bending someone to your will for your pleasure. It’s about a girl who falls in love with a boy.

Plain and simple.

And plain being that it takes place in an Amish community.

But it’s not quite Amish fiction. It’s a little spicier than your typical Amish Romance.

And yet here we were- premiering on Amazon’s Top 20 in Amish romance on the opening weekend.

At first I was:

fistbump to fellow Jen

But then the worries about how that little bit of tart in the story would come across to traditional Amish Fiction readers worried itself in my mind and then I was more:

breathe Sheldon breathe!

I waited with baited  hyperventilating breaths for the onslaught of angry voices. Outraged at dry humps and temptation at every turn, rather than seeing the love and devotion two people had and discovered in finding themselves and one another. I was truly scared that it would be crucified (pardon the pun).

Instead, Faith dipped from Number 14 the first day to a low of Number 42 by week three… I was okay with that. Blessed to have it on any Top 100, I was happy to see that day after day it was receiving a positive review, and a steady purchase count. And word was getting out. A few wonderful blog reviews throughout the month definitely helped spread the word (check out links at the end for the great reviews and recs); I was hoping to find that perhaps this little story would hit it off with the Amish fiction readers. That they’d see the love story and not the possible scandal I feared.

Well this week I was looking at sales and was shocked to discover that Healing Faith was racing up the ranks: first 34, then 27, then 21 and then up to #12!

It was running alongside the wonderful authors like Wanda E Brunstetter and Sarah Price!

This little baby is seeing more Amish Fiction readers than I could have imagined, as I see the other books bought from people buying mine seems to convey. And for this I am so so thankful. The intent of publishing this, and doing it as a self publication at that- was that I could share this with more than just the few that had read it in its previous incarnation. Yes, yes. Many of you already know this was GASP Twilight fan fiction before. And while some have been adamant about not supporting anyone offering their story to the masses in a reworked edition, many more have embraced Nathan and Kate as individuals in an entirely new story, separate of the fictionalized world of Twilight. And again, for that I am so very thankful.

I wanted to share this with as many people as would read it. Some might say it’s just romance. Bonnet rippers if you will. Some will scoff and blog and say it’s not Shakespeare or Chaucer or Austin.  But it is a story that provides hope and faith. It’s my heart- my baby, and for that I am proud to share it (even though pride is not an Amish trait). This story comes from my heart, as one reviewer wrote. And I want to thank each and every one of you that has purchased, read, reviewed, promoted, or smiled and felt a little happier having experienced a little bit of my heart.

So one last gif for you all. My love and joy to all of you for accepting a little piece of me into your life.

Thank you Credoroza for sharing this in a review! All the hugs!

Thank you everyone! Take a look at these awesome posts and I promise more soon! MWAH!
