Release Day for Sydney Logan’s: Soldier On

Soldier_On

Hello everyone! I am so excited to share with you a story just released by the amazing Sydney Logan! I love Sydney’s writing style, as it is always sweet with some bittersweet moments that leave you really thinking about life and the human element. Her protagonists have issues- ones we can relate to, and you go into reading with the fervor to see your newest fiction friends make it to the happily ever after through everything that can be thrown at them. Nothing too angst-ridden- just honest. Real. 10151379_523200807788244_8207881945564334711_n

Soldier On is a wonderful journey for two young people who think they have their lives all figured out- and come to realize that life has a way of switching things up and testing your heart. Life will challenge your beliefs, your determination, and test your dedication.

When asked to read an Advance for Sydney Logan– a story about a modern day soldier and a complicated love story to boot– I was nervous to read based on some of my own past. Loving and losing the man you love to war is too close to my heart to usually allow me to even venture into a story about young soldier love.
But I love Sydney and everything she writes, because she writes what’s in the heart; her characters are always like one’s best friends while reading. So taking the advice of her title and her hero- I soldiered on and read this in one sitting.
And cried. Cried and laughed. Cried some more, and grinned like an idiot until my cheeks hurt. And even did a little happy, ugly crying to boot.
Brandon and Stephanie had plans for their last semester of college- and the future they had planned after graduation did not include a relationship. But a chance meet, that incredible feeling of a first kiss, and sweet chemistry changes that.
But Steph has some major hangups- like dating a soldier.
And Brandon’s a soldier.
Both have deeper stories that have shaped them- family histories that drive them to be who they are.
The love is clear. But with Steph’s issue about falling for a soldier, it’s a real test of their friendship, and their love.
Fear of being left behind, of losing the love you are desperately afraid to venture through with, of discovering that life isn’t perfect.
Because all you really need in life are three little things- Love, honesty, and respect- and as one of my favorite characters in the story says- you can’t have one without the others.
All this and more Ms. Logan covers with such ease, it truly is like riding the wave of emotions right beside every character.
So while I cried and ignored everything around me- I am left feeling content because this story was real. Close to home, but honest and respectful of not only our soldiers, but those that love them.

Grab a copy of Soldier On this weekend from June 20-22 for just 99 cents! And then enjoy a great read!

the blurb

10151379_523200807788244_8207881945564334711_n Losing her father in Desert Storm has left Stephanie James a bitter soul when it comes to the military. As a college senior juggling a full course load, Steph’s only goal is to graduate with honors at the end of the semester. She’s focused, determined, and a firm believer in all work and no play. Then she meets Brandon at a New Year’s Eve costume party. Despite his disguise, Steph finds herself attracted to the camouflaged soldier who curls her toes with a scorching midnight kiss.

Brandon Walker is an engineering major and ROTC student from the hills of Kentucky. Growing up as the son of a major general has given Brandon firsthand knowledge of the struggles military families sometimes face. Now that his father’s memory is fading, Brandon is even more determined to make his dad proud and graduate as an officer in the United States Army. Then he meets Stephanie, and suddenly, his focus is less on his military service and more on the pretty brunette who has stolen his heart. When he becomes aware of Steph’s resentment toward the military, he worries their relationship is doomed.

When faced with the realization that she’s fallen in love with a soldier, can Steph’s wounds from the past be healed with love in her present … and in her future?
